Lassie
Lassie is the one dog that has spanned across numerous media platforms. If you don’t know who Lassie is, you might have been living under a rock your whole life. Lassie is perhaps the most well-known Rough Collie there is. In Variety, the show business journal, Lassie was named as one of the “100 Icons of all time” – the only animal star on the list. Lassie is also only one of three animals to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – the others being silent-film stars Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart. |

Benji
Benji was to Lassie as Batman is to Superman – always 2nd best. Although Benji was mainly known in television and movies, he held his own as a heroic dog with an uncanny knack for helping those in need. Benji was originally played by pet actor, Higgins. Higgins was found in an animal shelter in Burbank, California. He was a small mixed breed dog who was believed to be a cross between a Miniature Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer and Cocker Spaniel. |

Buck Bundy
(Married w/ Children)
Everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family includes an equally dysfunctional pet. Buck Bundy was played by Michael, a Briard for 11 seasons on Married…With Children. In the later years of the show, Buck would later be reincarnated into Lucky, a cocker spaniel. Buck’s laziness, insults and sarcasm were part of the humor that many fans enjoyed on Married…With Children. |

Eddie (Frasier)
Frasier was one of the most critically acclaimed comedies of all time in television – having a dog as a part of the cast was the main reason why. Ok – that might be an exaggeration but it sure made the show that much more entertaining. Eddie was the best pal for Martin Crane for the entirety of the show, about as intellectual as Frasier Crane at times. Eddie, played by pet actor Moose, was a Jack Russell Terrier who was also featured in the film, My Dog Skip. Moose was such a popular face that he received more fan mail than any of his human counterparts. |

Salem Saberhagen
(Sabrina The Teenage Witch)
Talking cats might come across as a surprise to anyone, well, except for Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Salem, an American Shorthair cat, once a warlock, was sentenced to spend 100 years as a cat without magical powers for his attempt to take over the world. Talk about a cat with huge aspirations! Throughout most of the show, Salem was played by an animatronic puppet due to the creator’s sensitivity to the treatment of animals. Four real life cats were used to portray Salem during non-dialogue scenes. |

Mister Ed
Horses are pretty smart – Mister Ed probably ranks at the top of the list. Mister Ed was an intelligent palomino American Saddlebred who could speak to his human owner, Wilbur. Contrary to popular beliefs, Mister Ed did not require peanut butter in order to make his mouth appear to move. Mister Ed was played by Bamboo Harvester, a Palomino equine.
