Chicken Liver #1 Ingredient
November 20, 2023
I have a dog with a very sensitive stomach, and I give her supplements to help support her digestive system. Through trial and error, I have learned that she cannot tolerate any chicken. I didn't realize that this supplement contained dried chicken liver until after I had started giving it to my dog. I wondered why her stools were loose again, but I assumed I had accidentally given her treats that contained chicken/a chicken by-product. I was surprised when I realized that the supplement I was giving to help her was likely to be perpetuating her issues. I am not making a judgement about the quality or choice of ingredients, just pay attention to the ingredients in case you have a chicken-intolerant dog like I do.On a positive note, she did not mind this powder being sprinkled over her food at all, so the flavor must be good.

Powdered packets
October 22, 2023
These probiotics come in individual packets as a powder, so they may be easier to give to fussy eaters of you mix them in with their regular food. They have no offensive smell, and I can't speak to the flavor but my dog who is non-discriminating of what he puts in his mouth happily eats them up. I haven't seen any offensive changes in his stool or general GI, so hopefully they're doing more good than harm. I haven't seen any real changes in his other that we were hoping they'd help with, like skin issues.

Same ingredients at a lower price
September 4, 2023
Per my vet, I started my pup on Purinas probiotic. While I don't mind spending money to provide my pup essentials to prolong his life, I really thought the price for the Purina brand was pretty steep so when I saw this product, I didn't hesitate to place an order. 3xs more product for 1/3 of the price. I've been using this in my dog's food now for about a month and notice his stools are regular and not runny, and he has had very few vomiting episodes. So all in all this is good enough proof for me this stuff is working like it should.

Exceptional Product for our dogs!
August 13, 2023
We have 3 small dogs who are picky eaters and we feel they may not be getting everything they need in their diet. Our vet has recommended probiotics in the past and when I saw Proflora and researched the company and the product, I was very impressed. Our dogs have been taking this for the last 2 weeks and have not turned their noses up to it once! I highly recommend!

Doesn’t notice it being mixed in to her food
August 10, 2023
We’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now, and our puppy sees to be having healthier poops. First off I have always owned a dog while living in the country so I’m new to having to pick up after my dog was a little plastic bag but one of the side affects to that is getting very familiar with your dogs BM’s. we’ve been adding it to her homemade puppy food each time we feed her and it hasn’t affected her eating habits so she obviously doesn’t mind being mixed into her food or notice.

Good remedy to have on hand
August 6, 2023
As lifelong dog owners, my wife and I are very familiar with some of the temporary issues that can crop up, even with very healthy dogs. Our dog recently had a stomach problem (throwing up, diarrhea) that we couldn't really attribute to anything specific. When this happened a few years ago it necessitated a trip to the vet, who prescribed very similar probiotics. My wife gave our dog this product for a few days once per day with food and now she's fine.Although the product information suggests that it can be administered daily, I don't believe that's necessary. We will use this when we notice a specific problem. The price for the 30 doses included in this package is about the cost of two doses of a similar probiotic when prescribed by a vet. So from that standpoint this is a good value: Highly recommended.

So far so good! My picky pup doesn't seem to mind
August 4, 2023
I have an elder dog with a very sensitive stomach. She has to be on special kidney food which tends to upset her tummy often. I was recommended to try putting her on probiotics to help with her digestion and already after a few days I think I am seeing an improvement. My dog will often have runny poop while eating her special diet, but the last few days her poops have appeared to become more solid and she isn't running out to try and use the bathroom non-stop. I am really hopeful that this will help provide her some peace and comfort. However, be sure to talk to your vet about the impact of using a product like this with your dog!

Works Great
July 15, 2021
My vet prescribed probiotics when my two dogs caught a bout of the tummy flu with vomiting and loose bowels. The probiotic regimen works great for both bowel function and decreasing gas. I add it to their food every morning to make my life as chief poop-scooper much better.

Works for us!
August 19, 2018
We used Fortiflora for a few years, as my pup aged. Shih Tzus have sensitive tummies anyway. I think that Fortiflora was on backorder, or something, so I tried Proflora. It worked even better for my dog. I could not be more pleased. And, bonus, it was less expensive - win win. I was afraid that he wouldn't like the flavor - no problem. Someone said that it has a sugar in it. That's okay, for almost 16 years old, if he has a bit of extra sugar, I'm okay with it.

Better price than Fortiflora, just as effective.
May 15, 2018
Our Bearded Collie has had gastro-intestinal issues for his entire life, until our Vet recommended another brand of dog probiotic (which rhymes with Murina Porta-Plora), which worked very well when added to his dinners. But the other probiotic has become more and more expensive and we decided to try ProFlora. We have had nothing but good results since the switch. I would say that both are eqally good at treating his GI issues, and for the significant difference in price ProFlora wins.

A happier, healthier dog
April 11, 2018
My Shepherd mix has had digestive issues forever. Proflora works better than the brand my vet recommended to "calm" her stomach. Less vomiting bile, rare diarrhea. BTW, she's 14 years old! We're both much happier thanks to Fortiflora.

Great product!

I give my two Mastiffs 1/2 pack a day and it keeps their digestive system working great. This a product I reorder and I'm very pleased.I've tried other probiotics before and they don't work as well. Even though many high end dog foods claim it includes probiotics, it's not enough. I would highly recommend this product. -Susan

My vet recommended this after my dog had taken a long dose of antibiotics. He loves it. I sprinkle it on his food once a day and he is so excited and eats it right up. I feel it is helping his digestive system and I will be giving him this on a regular basis.

Questions and Answers

1 Question & 1 Answer
Janet
from Palo Alto, CA asked:
December 24, 2014
I have been using Fortiflora daily for my lab mix. She has problems with her anal glands not emptying. I bring her to the vet every 3 months to have them cleaned. How is the Proflora different from the Fortiflora? Would the Proflora potentially help with the anal glands?
1 Answer
A healthy regiment of diet and exercise can help relieve the symptoms of anal sac disease greatly. Probiotics can help contribute to this goal, but it's also important to ensure that your dog is getting plenty of fiber. Fortiflora does not offer your pup a lot of dietary fiber, whereas Proflora contains the fiber inulin. This should help relieve the problem and keep your dog's digestive system and anal sac healthy.
