works for my furball
April 3, 2019
I am happy with this product. Works wonders for my cat with allergy to needles and cannulas (I know, never knew it existed before...) Easy to divide and easy to spot on the floor if spit out.
Pros
  • works well, easy to divide,
Cons
  • melts quickly, not too tasty

Did not work for my Lab. Had to get a prescription that I must say was pricey but he's doing great.

Helps my itchy cat!
February 7, 2017
I've tried everything to help my older cat who has horrible itchy skin. She has bad military dermatitis all over and constantly bit and pulled her skin and was going bald on her back. There would be little furry scabs everywhere - Gross! I could tell she was miserable. When I pet her in certain areas she would jump and her skin would twitch. I looked on line and found this medicine (I bought it at Walmart for a 3rd of the price) and cut it in half. Put the 1/2 in a Greenies chicken pill pocket (I got them from Petsmart) and my picky little fur baby gobbled it up. I could never get her to take pills any other way! I was shocked! Within a couple hours she seemed to be more relaxed and no more excessive scratching, biting/pulling of skin...she did seem a little sleepy during the first couple hours, but definitely happy and calm. So far I give her a 1/2 every day and it seems to last all day. Her hair is growing back and the miliary dermatitis seems to be going away as well. I'm so glad I could provide some relief and now I can get some sleep at night without her waking me up attacking her skin constantly. I would definitely try this for your pet.

My pup has allergies and I found this product works better on him then benedryl. It helps reduce the itchies and red eyes making the day more tolerable for him.

There is no dosasge on the bottle for a dog. It seems to be addressing human consumption. So I don't know how much to give my dog.

Is Working Great!
March 17, 2009
Our dog has been on allergy shots for 1 1/2 years now, in addition to benedryl tabs 3 x's a day, it all helped somewhat but i decided to try this based on the other review. Within 2 or 3 days, her itching & scratching had slowed down alot!!!! We are very pleased and ordering more because it seems to be working much better than the over the counter benedryl. Thank you!!

Excellent Product!

This medication was prescribed by our vet - only he was charging us about 20 cents a tablet or so. This works great at helping pet allergies and stopping scratching.

What is the dosage for a 9 pound cat?
2 Answers
The dosage should be always ordered by the vet because it depends not only on weight of the animal but also on the symptoms and the overall condition. My cat is allergic to needles and this little thing called a cannula used for drips so he almost always develops an allergic reaction (inflammation of both skin and vain). For this he is always given 1/4 (a quarter) of the tablet twice a day for 10 days. He is 15 pounds (6.8kg).

Hi RJones, In cats, chlorpheniramine maleate is dosed 1 – 2 mg per cat total dose to and 2 to 4 mg per cat on the high end of the dosage given every 8 to 12 hours. The most common dose used in cats is 2 mg total dose per cat every 8 to 12 hours.

Is this flavored? How do you get your cat to eat it please?
1 Answer
If your cat is fussy when it comes to taking medication, try using Greenies Pill Pockets to mask their flavor with a delicious treat that conceals the medication. Greenies Pill Pockets are available in multiple flavors and in recipes for both cats and dogs. You can check them out on the page below: http://www.entirelypets.com/pillpockets.html
