A licensed veterinarian, Dr. M. Burns wanted to solve a problem with one of her pet cats named "Buckwheat." Buckwheat would only drink water if it was from a running faucet. Buckwheat would lay around waiting for someone to turn on the faucet, and that caused problems like having Dr. M forget to turn it off. Water bill was high from the running faucet, so she decided to create the Drinkwell Pet Fountain.
