    Useful Information

    Directions:
    To introduce your dog to the toothpaste, apply a small amount onto your finger and allow pet to taste. Next, apply a small amount onto the Petrodex Toothbrush or Finger Toothbrush. Then, gently pull the lips and cheeks up. Begin brushing with short, back and forth strokes at the gumline. Brush only a few teeth the first time. Give a lot of praise during this process. Avoid using human toothpaste on your pet.

    No dental cleaning at vet - hurrah

    So far, I've been using this product and none of my dogs has required the expensive dental cleaning procedure in the last 5 years.
    Pros
    • I feel good about keeping their mouth healthy and hopefully preventing them from developing heart issues. Also, saving money at the vet and keeping them from having to be anesthetized.
    Cons
    • It may be a little hard to start brushing if you don't start when the dog is young.

    I have purchased this product somewhere else in the past, the price is much higher and has been discontinued for a few months. I found this product on line with Entirely pets.com, it comes in a pack of 3. My dog Brownie loves the product and I love the price.

    Teeth Brushing Is Not A Hassle With This

    I've brushed my dogs' teeth for years with this product, once a day. I use a regular size people toothbrush (I have Golden Retrievers with big mouths LOL). The dogs like the taste enough to think that the whole routine is a big treat. That helps a lot! Only a small amount of toothpaste is needed. It really helps to keep tartar from forming. I have a 6-year old Golden who has never had a dental cleaning at the vet yet....no tartar!

    After spending several hundred dollars at my vet for teeth cleaning, it became obvious I should be brushing my boys' teeth. After some time researching, I decided on this product. It had generally good reviews and was listed as the best option several places. The reason I gave it a 4 is because it seems to be working very well for my one dog but not quite so well for the other. The one dog has shiny white teeth. The other has some brown stain after one year even though I am brushing every day. Shelties can have bad teeth and I understand that but I was hoping both dogs would have white teeth. Still recommended though and brushing with it every day has definitely kept things better than they would have been otherwise.

    It seems to be better than doing nothing. However I ordered Poultry and they sent Peanut butter. Our dog does not like this peanut butter taste.

    Our last visit to the vet with our eight-year-old golden retriever Katie yielded the following statement from our vet, "Look at those beautiful teeth! She is our healthiest eight-year old golden retriever!" (We purchased Katie through the vet and she was one of a litter of eight.)     I did some reading before buying this toothpaste and the Sentry Petrodex Enzymatic variety seemed to be generally recommended. My dogs tolerate it well and we brush every day. Won't know the final effectiveness until later this year after check-ups (my veterinarian told me I needed to brush, preferably daily, because Sheltie teeth are notoriously bad - my 3 year old has already had his teeth cleaned twice) but their teeth are looking good to me. If we have good checkups, I'll rate the toothpaste 5 stars !

    I took my dog to the vet, and the vet said you better start brushing your dog's teeth. I bought Petrodex and slowly began the campaign with my 100 lb dog. She likes the flavor and now after 4 months, the job is pretty easy. At least I can brush about 40 seconds on each side and that is doing the trick. Her teeth now are bright & shinny!

    Jayda has developed a connoisseur's taste with canine toothpastes. I have tried to save money and have used different brands. She tries, but most definitely is NOT interested. She'll eat duck poo but won't lick the chicken flavored toothpaste from a different brand from my finger or her toothbrush. I'm happy she's a daily brusher, so I'll keep buying her favorite.

    I have been brushing my dogs teeth since they were puppies (three times per week) and they have never needed their teeth professionally cleaned by the Vet. Brigit was 13 when she passed and had perfect teeth and Pepper is 16. They love the taste of the poultry toothpaste. If you brush their teeth regularly, you will save on Vet cleanings.

    Have used this for years to brush dogs teeth everyday, perfect checkups, never have to have dog go under anesthetic to have teeth cleaned, dogs love taste, makes it easy to train dogs to have teeth brushed even if have gotten dog as older dog that's never had teeth brushed

    This is the best price anywhere you will find. I have been using the product in the poultry flavor for years. I brush all of my pug's teeth and they all consider it a treat. Petrodex stays on the brush nicely whereas other brands are too gooey.

    My dogs beg to get their teeth brushed with the yummy poultry favored tooth paste. If I can, I brush them every other night. They are patient and let me brush for 2 minutes brushing every tooth inside and out. This product does keep their breath fresh and their teeth clean, I highly recommend this product.

    I have been using this product.....Sentry Petrodex enzymatic Toothpaste.....and both of my dogs love it.
    I just have to say it is time to brush our teeth and they run to the bathroom.
    Works great !! I did not give it 5 stars only because I still have tartar on the back teeth but it may not be the cause of the toothpaste.

    My 3 dogs love their nightly toothbrushing ritual. The poultry flavor must taste really good to them, because they're always happy when we get out their toothbrushes. And the brushing has definitely cut down on the need to have professional cleanings at the vet's.

    Can not find the 'beef' flavored toothpaste for dogs, that is really the favorite. Original is just plain. The peanut butter flavor turned out to be green colored, doesn't smell good. Got the poultry one, cause no other choice. Pricing and shipping could be cheaper.

    The reason this product received 4 stars vs. 5 is the tube material. Why can't it be like that used for human toothpaste?

    Anyhow, the Collies get their teeth brushed daily and this product is well tolerated. Actually, since the tooth paste is tasty, brushing is a highly anticipated event. Even when pet sitting other doggies, the product is tolerated by the visitors (dogs). (Possibly they are in shock at getting their teeth brushed, but the product makes the process well tolerated because it taste good to dogs).
