Directions:
- Inspect nails to locate blood vessel ("the quick"). On light colored nails, the quick is easily visible as the pink area at the base of the nail. On dark nails, trim only the tips of the nails.
- Hold paw firmly but gently. Place your thumb under toe pad, then gently press thumb into paw pad to spread the nail.
- Cut off the very tip of the nail, avoiding the quick.
- Regular nail clipping causes the quick to retreat over time, reducing the risk of accidental bleeding.
