Top 12 Most Loyal Dog Breeds

Our good friend Kirby the Dorkie, as he prepares for the highly anticipated release of his dog recipe cookbook, is excited to bring you these delicious dog frosting recipes that can be used for any special occasion! They're easy recipes that comes a variety of delicious flavors, including yogurt, maple and more!

The ingredients in these recipes are also human-friendly, so you might find yourself licking the spoon to give it a little taste for yourself!

Yogurt Frosting for Dogs

Yields: Makes 1 Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting dries hard

Ingredients:

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

½ cup tapioca starch

2 – 3 teaspoons low fat or 2% milk

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Place yogurt and tapioca starch in a small bowl and thoroughly combine.
  2. Mix in milk a teaspoon at a time until consistency of frosting.
  3. Decorate or dip the dog treats. Place on wax paper and let dry.

Bacon Cream Cheese Frosting

Yields: Makes 1 Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

1 (4 oz.}package low fat cream cheese

1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey

¼ cup real bacon bits

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Let cream cheese come to room temperature and blend in the maple syrup. You can microwave a few seconds if it's difficult to mix.
  2. Stir in the bacon bits.
  3. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

Kirby doesn’t care for the bland flavor so I sweeten and color it with a very small amount of pureed fruit: strawberries, pineapple, or cherries.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Frosting

Yields: Makes ½ Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

1 (4 oz.) package low fat cream cheese

3 teaspoons pure pumpkin

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Let cream cheese come to room temperature and blend in the pumpkin until smooth and creamy. You can microwave a few seconds if it's difficult to mix.
  2. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

Maple Frosting for Dogs

Yields: Makes ½ Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting dries hard.

Ingredients:

1 cup tapioca starch

¾ cup maple syrup

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Place ingredients in a small bowl and thoroughly combine.
  2. Chill to thicken before frosting cooled treats.
  3. Decorate or dip the dog treats. Place on wax paper and let dry.

Carob, Peanut Butter, or Yogurt Chips for Dogs

Yields: Makes ½ Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting dries hard.

Ingredients:

½ cup chosen chips

1 tablespoon coconut oil

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Place chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 30 seconds. Stir.
  2. Microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir again until smooth.
  3. Decorate or simply dip the dog treats. Place on wax paper and let dry.

Carob Avocado Frosting

Yields: 1 cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado

½ cup carob powder

½ cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons coconut oil

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Mix together the ingredients to desired consistency.
  2. Refrigerate if it needs to firm up. Add a little water if it’s too thick.
  3. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

Cream Cheese Frosting for Dogs

Yields: Makes ½ Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

1 (4 oz.) package low fat cream cheese

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Let cream cheese come to room temperature.
  2. Whip with honey until fluffy.
  3. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

Make it a pretty color using one drop natural food coloring or ¼ teaspoon dried powder.

Banana Carob Frosting

Yields: Makes 1 Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

2 medium bananas

3 tablespoons whole wheat flour

1 tablespoon coconut oil

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Thoroughly mix together all the ingredients and chill in the refrigerator for about twenty minutes.
  2. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

Mashed Potato Frosting

Yields: Makes ½ Cup

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Note: This frosting stays soft.

Ingredients:

3 peeled and cubed Yukon Gold potatoes

¼ cup low fat or 2% milk

2 tablespoons real unsalted butter

2 tablespoons dried parsley

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes, drain and mash.
  2. Mix in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Decorate using a piping bag or spatula.

I often cheat using 100% real mashed potato flakes to make this. You can also make this with sweet potatoes.
