My dog has dry eye and this stuff really helps keep his eyes moist. I use it in conjunction with the Terramycin.

Puralube Works
July 25, 2013
We've been using Puralube twice a day on an 8 year old pug we recently rescued. Her skin and eyes were very dry when she first came to us. Puralube has given her eyes new sparkle and they always look fresh in both natural and artificial light.

This is a great product, but it's best if you have help administering it to you dog. I don't, and thus I waste a lot of it getting it into her eyes.

Great Eye Ointment!
March 11, 2012
I use Puralube Vet Ointment on my pugs because they have extremely dry eyes. It works better than other eye ointments and also it is the product that my vet uses. But it is expensive.

Is this the same as the Opptimune prescription ointment?
1 Answer
No- the Optimmune uses cyclosporine as its active ingredient and is used to treat keratoconjunctivitis sica (KCS or dry eye), a clinical condition caused by a lack of tear production or increased tear film evaporation.
Though Puralube Vet Ointment can be used to treat excessively dry eyes, it is meant only to provide relief from temporary dryness and irritation. Should the problem persist in spite of its use, you might seek to get a prescription for Optimmune from your veterinarian.
