Love this sunscreen

I have a light-coated dog, and I love that this can help give me peace of mind that the sun isn't hurting him when we go to the beach!

One of the ingredients listed in this product is DMDM Hydantoin, an ingredient rated highly on the toxicity scale. How can use of this ingredient be justified in this product and how safe is it really?

Accordingto the Personal Care Products Council, preservativessuch as DMDM hydantoin that “slowly releasing small, safe amounts offormaldehyde over time” help prevent harmful mold and bacteria. A recent safetyassessment published in the International Journal ofToxicology reaffirmed that formaldehyde can be used safely in cosmetics if established safetylimits are not exceeded.
