It’s finally here! October 29th is National Cat Day. Founded by Animal Behaviorist & Pet Lifestyle Expert, Collee Paige (also the founder of National Dog Day) created this day to help us realize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat owners to celebrate the life of their cats. |
Many people have the perception that cats are lazy animals because they do not do the same things as their dog counterparts and are often overlooked as being a pet. Even if they do not the same things as dogs, cats still have great benefits such as lowering blood pressure, offering their companionship & loyalty and also alerting their owner of danger. |
Approximately 4 million cats are coming into shelters every year and about 1-2 million are being euthanized. The goal of National Cat Day is to reach at least 10,000 shelter cats to be adopted nationwide. There are many ways you can help out to reach that goal.

If you can’t adopt a cat, you could donate money, supplies to a local shelter, rescue group or animal food bank. If that is not feasible because of your budget, then you could also volunteer at one of those places. Take the initiative and be a part of this very special holiday to celebrate and honor cats. | |
