Logan is a two year old Yorkie and he is special in more ways than one. He is seven pounds of pure energy, always on the move and most tenacious. He came into our lives by accident when someone was unable to care for him and we took him in. I've decided it was fate. He loves people of all types. You were put on earth to pet him and he knows it. Because he is so loveable and has such an outgoing personality he has become a therapy dog and gives love and support to all he comes in contact with.
My dad is a Vietnam veteran and now travels around the country with the Vietnam traveling wall. Logan travels to many of the events where the wall is set up. He makes it easier for the veterans to deal with the emotions they carry with them. At first I was unsure if the veterans would respond to him as he is a pocket dog and not a rottweiler but they respond very well to him. Believe it or not it seems the marines are most drawn to him. The bigger the tougher the marine the harder they cry and the tighter they squeeze. He gets so excited when we put his work bandanna on and go to an event.
He has recently gotten involved with a Veterans home near our home and once a month we go to visit with the residents they are waiting on the front porch for our arrival. He loves them all and does several tricks for them. So now you know why it was fate that Logan ended up with at my house and why he is deserving of the pet of week title. He is a very special little man and he is loved by all who he has the privilege to meet and serve. |
